Blessed are those who are driven deep

Saturday August 27th, Matthew 5: 10 You're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God's kingdom. I have known some who seek persecution as proof that they are following God. Most of the time I think what they have found is how to be annoying. The focus in this blessing is not in the persecution, but in the commitment. The religious right tends to wear their perceived persecution as a badge. Their righteousness soon becomes self-righteousness and except for throwing his name around a lot, God is largely absent from the picture. Focus on your commitment to God and God’s teaching of peace. If you are feeling persecuted, check to make sure it’s not just because you are being obnoxious.
