Blessed be the cooperators

Friday August 26th, Matthew 5: 9 You're blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover who you really are, and your place in God's family. If I don’t fight, how can I win? That is sort of what fighting is all about most of the time, winning. The only trouble is that in the battle to win, the victim is you. Jesus use the imagery often that we are called to see each other as brothers and sister in Christ. Now I know brothers and sisters don’t always get along, and I know that brothers and sisters do fight, but except for the occasional psychopath, it is usually not to the death. God calls us to be peacemakers. We don’t do that of course. Our nation’s largest export is weapons. Our nation’s largest expenditure is military. What would happen if we put that much energy into making peace? If one nation came over and bombed us and another country came over and helped us, which one would you be most likely to listen to? You see, military, in order to be effective, must always be secondary to aid. Remember AIDS medication cost a lot less than a bomber, and it’s more effective at winning the hearts and minds. It is the only way to win against terriorism that works. Everything else is just about making a profit.
