John 20:19-31

I sit in darkness
late at night
the kids are asleep
quiet now
--after a day of fun
oblivious to the adult world
--as we have made it
of war and hate
and children very much like themselves
loved very much like themselves
without enough
--of their share
--to survive
I want to venture out
To help in this world
--of too much
----and not enough
but I often find myself
----------hiding
here in the darkness
----------comfort
-------------safety
of my own walls
when
--into this sanctuary
--of my
------awareness fear
comes a voice
----(peace)
of disturbing comfort
that seeks to destroy
------------my little kingdom
-------of what
--------------can
------------------I
--------------------do
-----------------------anyway walls
I am heralded again
----(peace)
from that voice of life
----(be with you)
I long to
--but wish not
------------hear
peace
in the midst of your world
and because of it
as the words still ring
------in my mind
I remember the one who came
To make all things new
And I long
--for that contact
that would take me by the hand
and lead me
--down the path of what will be
lead me
----(as the Father sent me)
somehow to show
--that Christ lives
show it to others
------and myself
Help me Lord to do thy will
----(I send you)
today

Psalm 104:24-34

Worship Leader: Lord, In your wisdom you have made all thing in this world.  The earth, the heavens, the skies and the seas are full of your riches.

Congregation: As I look out over the vastness of the seas alone, I am in awe at their magnificence and magnitude. They are filled with life, known and unknown are a place where creatures large and small play.

Worship Leader: All of life is dependent upon You O Lord and you supply for their needs at the right time.

Congregation: When you give O Lord, there is more than enough for all to live and eat well, with abundance left over.

Worship Leader: In your absence is anxiety and fear.  In your absence is scarcity and want, with abundance for some and starvation for others.

Congregation: But when you spirit moves in this world, life is created.  Life for ourselves, and life for the whole world.  For you make all things new.

Worship Leader: May the glory of the Lord be forever and may the Lord look upon this creation and smile.

Congregation:  I will sing to the Lord all my life; singing praises to my God as long as I live and ask only that my thoughts be pleasing to the Lord, and bring me joy.

John 14:1-12 5th Sunday of Easter

How can I go
How can I get there on my own
               (I am the Way)
How can I
               can I
                           I
and they looked and saw they were naked
and ashamed
from the beginning of creation
we have tried to be gods
to bargain
               plead
                              beg
all the while not knowing
               or hearing
of God’s love for us
be with me Lord and guide me
take away the insistence of being in charge
and fill me with your freedom
to see who I am
a child of God
               (the truth)
loved by the Creator
               (and the life)

Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16

Pastor: In the Lord our God we will take our refuge, it is there we will never be put to shame for the Lord, out of the righteousness of God, has delivered us from all evil.

Congregation: Hear us O Lord, open our hearts to know of your presence and let us know you have rescued us from all that would do us mortal harm, for you are our rock, our refuge in a sea of turmoil.

Pastor: Walk with us O Lord, for you are our rock, our island in a sea of turmoil and you will never desert us in this world.

Congregation: Keep us free from the traps we step into every day for it is into your hands we give our lives, our spirits, knowing your will never forsake us.

Pastor: The time allotted to our life on this earth is in your Hands O Lord.

Congregation: Let Your Face O Lord shine upon us with unfailing love, for we are forever indebted to you.
