Love God
Thursday October 27th, Matthew 22: 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. Ever since that pesky tree in that beautiful garden, humanity has struggled between wanting to be god and wanting to Worship God. It is so easy to get caught up in ones self. So easy to see all the blessings you have as yours and yours alone. Scripture tells us that we are blessed for one reason, to be a blessing. If our blessings are only for ourselves then we suffer from spiritual gluttony. “A glutton is one who raids the icebox for a cure for spiritual malnutrition.” (Fredrick Buechner, Wishful Thinking) Down in our very souls, what we hunger for most is a relationship with the God who loves us. The best cure for the desire for midnight raids on the icebox is to extend that loving relationship to others. How you work out the details is what life is all about.
