American Dream or Godly Vision?
Friday November 17th, Mark 12 : 41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. What part of your life to you give back to God? Not just in money, but in the time you spend in Bible Study, prayer, service and worship. A common trend is that the summer slump is lasting longer and longer each year. Many are working so hard trying to find meaning in life that they become too busy to involve themselves and their families in the very thing that brings meaning. Summer vacation turns into fall frenzy. People are working harder and longer to get the very thing that is right at their finger tips, a meaningful life and the love of God. All too often “the American Dream” has become has become the driving force in families rather than the Godly vision. Jesus was not impressed by the generosity of those who gave out of the abundance of their dream, he was impressed at the small gift that came from the Godly vision. Are you caught up in the vision or the dream?
