January 22nd, 1st Corinthians 1: And not only that,
but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things
are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual
adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will
never give up on you. Never forget that. We are never alone in this life; God is with us, and most often in
the form of our fellow brothers and sisters in the body of Christ. There will be a time when all this will come
to an end, a time when God will restore the intention of creation, but until
then, there is work to do, and lots of it.
The work of the kingdom now is to work toward justice, as God sees
justice, for all of creation. It is not
just making things better for you and I, but more importantly, for them. The “them” are the ones we don’t see, don’t
hear, and will most likely never meet.
They may never utter the word Jesus or Christ or even be thankful for
the grace shown. What is important is
not their reaction or conversion, but simply that they are treated and seen as
our brothers and sisters in Christ by you and I. After all this is not about us, but about the
kingdom. Our job is to bring Justice,
God’s justice to all of creation, and that includes all creatures. Few of us would claim that our parents love
us but not our brother or sister, no matter where our brother or sister has
moved off to or how much contact they may or may not keep. We do however have little trouble claiming
that rather sick idea in the name of God, our father in heaven. Time for the children of God throughout the
world to begin to get to know and love their brothers and sisters in this
creation, and remember, God is with you in the process.
