rebirth

Monday April 15^th, Acts 9:  7 The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. 8 Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. 9 For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything. As Jesus descended into death for three days until the light of the resurrection, so too, Paul had his three days of darkness before coming to the light.  For Paul, this was a time of rebirth into a new follower of God.  For many, there is an old self in us that must die in order to allow for new birth.  For 12 steppers, it is step one, admitting there is a problem.  For abuse victims it is the realization that nothing will change until they make a change.  For most major changes in life style, there is that first moment when you realized that what you are doing is no longer working, and some sort of movement toward health is what is needed.  Those dark days before that moment can be difficult, and yet, even there, God is with us to lead us to a moment of light and rebirth.
