word and deed
Saturday
February 16th, Luke 9: 42 Even
while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion.
But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, healed the boy and gave him back
to his father. 43 And they were all amazed at the
greatness of God. Following
God’s confession, Jesus does not leave Peter and the boys on the mountain top,
but rather leads them down into the dusty highways and byways to be the
presence of God in this world. The
disciples could not heal the boy, they were too busy acting alone, Christ was
not with them. When we find ourselves in
the dusty streets, remember to make Christ a part of everything you do. Here is where confession leads to ministry
and ministry to confession round and round.
You are the Christ the son of the living God and here I am a child of
God living in the world, Walk with me as together we bring God into the world
in word, but especially in deed and working for justice that honors all the
children of God. Remember, we are never alone.
