O Holy Night, a little hlep please....
The song, "O Holy Night" is not in any Lutheran Hymnals from the US, not in the Australian Lutheran hymnal, or UCC or UMC nor in the Baptists or Episcopal hymnals I checked. Which Christian groups have "O Holy Night" in their hymnals and does anyone know why it is absent from so many others?

Dan - I checked the UCC New Century - not there either. I think it must be cause it's really not congregational singing.....that's the only reason I can think of.

After 30+ years of ministry, this year I realized that O Holy Night is not in the hymnals (Methodist and others) that I have. It seems to have such a clear Christ oriented message along with social application... when compared to some hymns in the book, this seems like a sad omission. I sure would like to know the reasoning.
