To my lovely grandchildren

To our lovely grandchildren,

We have had the pleasure to meet some of you and trust that if there are others who were born after our passing, you will have heard wonderful stories and tales of our adventures. We especially want to thank you for the gifts you have given us, your love, your hugs, and the wonderful surprise of $1200 the summer before the election of 2008. What a wonderful gift. Though it was not needed for anything particular, it did offer the stimulus we needed to take that extra vacation to Mexico. We already had enough miles from our credit card purchases so the flight down there was free and we were able to put the entire amount toward a wonderful ten days of unexpected relaxation. We know you are now diligently paying this money back to the government, as are many of your generation, and we know this has not been easy with all the leftover debt from the war and all. But we just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your generosity.

So again, thank you for your generosity and your willingness to give, without even being asked. We had a wonderful time and hope that someday you too may be able to take a vacation.
