Junk

Thursday November 23rd, Mark 13: 1 As he was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!" 2 "Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down." Oh, my!!! How we are impressed by things, big things, little things, cheap things and expensive things, but in the course of God’s vision for humanity, just things nonetheless. The disciples were impressed with Herod’s building project, Jesus reminds them that next to eternal blessings, it is just junk. Don’t let the junk in this world get all your attention. Keep your focus on the things eternal, then life here and now will finally come into focus. Until then, all that stuff is just junk.
