belittling
Monday May 30th,
1 Kings 18: 41 “Likewise
when a foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, comes from a distant land
because of your name 42 —for
they shall hear of your great name, your mighty hand, and your outstretched arm. Though it may not be popular in today’s political circles,
the welcoming of the stranger is one of the central tenants in our faith. We are called as the children of God to
welcome them with outstretched arms. Walls
do not welcome. Burdensome laws do not
welcome. Name calling and belittling do not welcome. The voice of the children
of God is to be welcoming and through that welcome letting the other know they
are a child of God. Somehow the process
also lets us know we too are the children of God.
