Opening Litany based on Psalm 107
Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Many Troubles
Worship Leader: O give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good; and the steadfast love of the Lord endures forever.
Congregation: Let the redeemed of
the Lord say so
Worship Leader: Let those redeemed from trouble and
gathered in from the lands, East, West, North and South say so.
Congregation: Some went down to the
sea in ships, doing business on the mighty waters; they saw the deeds
of the Lord, the wondrous
works in the deep.
Worship Leader: For the Lord spoke and raised the stormy wind
which lifted up the waves of the sea. They mounted up to heaven and
went down to the depths
Congregation: Their courage melted
away in their calamity and they reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were
at their wits’ end and then….
Worship Leader: Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble and the Lord
brought them out from their distress and made the storm be still
Congregation: The waves of the sea
were hushed and we were glad because they had quieted and the Lord had brought
us to our desired haven
Worship Leader: Let us thank the Lord for the steadfast love and wonderful works the
Lord brings into our lives
Congregation: We will praise the
name of the Lord before all people. As
the redeemed of the Lord we will sing of the Lords goodness in this land
