between the fog
Saturday July 18th, Mark 6: 26
The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner
guests, he did not want to refuse her. 27 So he immediately sent an executioner
with orders to bring John's head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, 28
and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she
gave it to her mother. Herod is not the only one in history to discover
that when the next morning comes and sobriety returns, somewhere between the
fog of what happened and the reality of the end result, that someone who was in
control was not you. Once again, hell is
truth seen too late. Only two things
help us see more clearly, God’s word looking forward, and our hindsight that
shows us what we didn’t quite get right.
