know who to thank
Tuesday September 17th, 1 Timothy 1: 12-14 I'm so
grateful to Christ Jesus for making me adequate to do this work. He went out on
a limb, you know, in trusting me with this ministry. The only credentials I
brought to it were invective and witch hunts and arrogance. But I was treated
mercifully because I didn't know what I was doing—didn't know Who I was doing
it against! Grace mixed with faith and love poured over me and into me. And all
because of Jesus. If you ask most
people to describe a Christian, unfortunately they would tend to describe the
above person, someone who brings invective and witch hunts and arrogance. Religion tends to do that, to say, “my way is
the right way and all others are going about it wrong.” Into this, Christ comes down and injects
grace. Grace injected into our lives and
hopefully through us into the lives around us.
Christians are not any better than anyone else, they just have some
half-baked idea who to thank. It is the
ones running around calling for Quran burning, cross burning, anger burning,
and all the guns we can carry that are still in process.
