Last Temptation
Tuesday
August 27th, Hebrews 12: 24 You've come to Jesus, who presents us with a new covenant, a
fresh charter from God. He is the Mediator of this covenant. The murder of
Jesus, unlike Abel's—a homicide that cried out for vengeance—became a
proclamation of grace. On the cross, Jesus
took all the evil humanity can give and proclaimed that it is not more evil
than all the good God can give. In the
book and film, “the last temptation of Christ,” the depiction was the strongest
argument to just give into to the tempters plan for the world. The gift of grace was Jesus’ “no” to the
temptations of this world, temptations to just give in, temptations we all
succumb to, and “yes” to God’s way of self-giving love and the gift of eternal
life for all. The gift of the cross is
salvation for all.
