Friday September 7^th, Mark 7:  7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."  Back to basics.  When Jesus was asked which was the greatest commandment he stated that we are to love the Lord with all our heart soul and mind and to love our neighbor as ourselves.  All of the gospel flows from this.  All of the big hot button issues in religion and society have more to do with what some people would like to see as rules and the quest for power, than with the commands of God.  The equal rights struggle in the U.S. and the attempts to marginalize women and minorities has more to do with power and preaching to the political base than it does anything found in scripture. If it does not fit under loving God and loving others, it is less than just adiaphora, it is sin.
