Acts 14:8-18 Paul and Barnabas heal a man in a town called Lystra, the townspeople are so surprised that they claim them to be Gods, (Zeus and Hermes to be exact). They go all the way to throwing them a parade before Paul and Barnabas are able to get them to listen to their claims not to be Gods.
How often do we hear or see something that confirms are preconceived notions about people, the world, and the way things work, and once that notion is confirmed we shut ourselves off to anymore info, because we "understand" it. Think of the Disciples, how often did they find themselves confused by Christ's actions because they assumed that Jesus was following their plan on how things were going to work out. Too often we read the Bible waiting for it to confirm what we already believe, then close ourselves off to anything that might challenge those beliefs. The Bible and Christ should challenge you, that is a good thing, that is how you grow in your faith and truly live in relationship in Christ.

and once they challenge you and you accept it, don't settle down thinking that now you understand. Once you sit down on the "truth" the spirit is right there challenging you again. Life with God is a constant challenge and therefore constant growth in understanding the love of God.
