Thursday: August 25th, Matthew 16: 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" 14 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Caesarea Philippi was in the midst of a very pluralistic society, culturally and religiously. When you state your beliefs here, you are not necessarily surrounded by like minded friends and family. The movement from what others say to what we say, is the movement from living in your head to living in your heart. Most of us live in our heads most of the time. It is safer and requires less commitment. But then, most of us fall in love. From that time on we live at least part of the time in our hearts, we say things like “I do” and “You are the Christ.” These are the statements and times that change lives. These three remain, faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Another way to look at it is, Amo Ergo Sum …. I Love, therefore I am.
