atonement

Wednesday November 11th, Hebrews 9: 27-28Everyone has to die once, then face the consequences. Christ's death was also a one-time event, but it was a sacrifice that took care of sins forever. And so, when he next appears, the outcome for those eager to greet him is, precisely, salvation. Animal sacrifice was given in atonement for sins. Christ’s ushers in salvation for all of humanity and the calling to live boldly as the saved and forgiven children of God. With all the emphasis some churches place on holiness and righteousness, one would think they believe they have the power to reject the gift of grace. I suppose they can do that to some degree, but in the process they also reject God.
