Thunder sons and power trips
Thursday October 26th, Mark 10: 35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. "Teacher," they said, "we want you to do for us whatever we ask." 36 "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked. 37 They replied, "Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory." From the story of the tree in Genesis all through the Bible to this question of the “sons of Thunder”, there is the desire to be like God. Not in the servant way that Christ has taught, but in the power down way that humans want. That is why Jesus kept taking children in his arms and telling the disciples they had to be like one of these, trusting, humble and caring. We still don’t get it do we? It is the essence of all sin.
