herding cats

Monday October 23rd, Isaiah 53: 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. The progressive difficulties in herding come in this order, first there is sheep, the next hardest is cats, and finally the hardest is humans. The disciples never seem to “get it” and neither do we. Left for just a hour and a sheep will go astray, left for a second and a human will go astray. But Jesus did not try to push humanity knowing full well it would be like pushing a rope, he went ahead of us to the cross instead. For those who follow, even in this zig-zag path called life, there is salvation.
