Friday January 9^th, John 1: What has come into being ⁴in him was life,^* and the life was the light of all people. ⁵The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.  By Friday, we will be gaining a little better than two minutes a day of daylight here in Anchorage.  In Alaska there is an excitement when you start to perceive the days getting longer.  There may be ice and snow outside, but the garden catalogues already are calling.  Christ came to bring that kind of hope into the world.  No matter the reality of what is; with Christ, there is also a great deal of excitement over what will be.
