Saturday December 20th, John 1:  ²³John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.' “ Get the road ready.  Get your life ready.  Get the world ready.  The Lord is coming soon.  When a king would come for a visit to a small town, everyone got to work fixing up the roads as a sign of welcome and honor.  John is announcing that it is time to start fixing the roads in our lives because the true King, the Messiah, is coming.  Some are busy fixing the roads, others are too busy standing around telling others how to fix the roads.  All the ones standing around produce are potholes.  As you fix up the roads in your life in preparation for the coming of the Messiah, watch out for the tendency to produce those standing around pietistic potholes.
