Maintain the relationship
Friday November 14th, Matthew 25: 6 "At midnight someone cried out, 'The bridegroom is coming! Come and meet him!' 7 Then all the bridesmaids woke up and got their lamps ready.8 But the foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.' 9 The wise bridesmaids answered, 'No, the oil we have might not be enough for all of us. Go to the people who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.' Each of us reaches a point where the “oil” of life is needed. It is seldom an expected time. Our calling is not to get ready, but to be ready. How you may ask? Maintain the relationship. How you may ask? Well, think about it. If you talked to your spouse once in a while, came home once in a while, had intimate time together once in a while, but spent most of your time, focus, energy down at the local watering hole, how long would the marriage last? If your spouse has any self-esteem the answer would be one month or less. If your spouse has good self-esteem it would be considerably less. Where do you spend your time, energy, focus, conversation, and intimate connections? Better check the tank for oil, you might be running low.
