Opening Litany for book of Ruth, Narrative lectionary
Worship Leader: When life seems to be turned against us and we
find ourselves in despair, know that the Lord has given you the gift of the
people of God.
People
Gathered: Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall
be my people, and your God my God.
Worship Leader: When life has turned against you and you feel
like a stranger in a strange land, know that the Lord has given you the gift of
the people of God.
People
Gathered: If you are thirsty, come and drink.
If you are hungry come and eat. When you feel alone, come and know you
are surrounded by the people of God.
Worship Leader: When you are afraid and you know not where to
turn, know that the Lord has given you the gift of the people of God.
People
Gathered: May you have a full reward from the Lord under whose wings you have come for refuge!” And may you know that you too are a child of
God.
Worship Leader: When
you are worried what tomorrow may bring, know that the Lord has
given you the gift of the people of God.
People
Gathered: May you
know that you are welcome in the family of God in the midst of despair,
isolation, fear and want and may you be known as restorers of life and
nourishers of souls.
