third base

Sunday February 2nd,  Micah 6: (The LORD’s Case Against Israel and therefore against you and I)  3 “My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me. 4 I brought you up out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. I sent Moses to lead you, also Aaron and Miriam. 5 My people, remember what Balak king of Moab plotted and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the LORD.” There are some who were born on third base and think they hit a triple, and then there are most of the rest of us who have been walked to third base and think we hit a triple.  Either way we fail to see the hand of God in our day to day endeavors.  After all the blessings that the Lord has showered us with in our lives, in looking back we tend to see the single set of footsteps in the sand and think we got there on our own.  All too often if we do happen to see two sets of footprints in the sand, we think it might be someone coming to steal what we have accomplished, or that we were such wonderful children of God that God came and helped us and not the other guy.  The original temptation in the Garden was to eat of the tree and become like gods.  It is a temptation that follows each one of us every day.  But there are moments when God breaks through and we get a glimpse, just a glimpse, of all we have as a gift.  There are times where God breaks through and we get a glimpse, just a glimpse of all we have in a society that has been built on the backs of someone else.  Perhaps then we can begin to see the many who are still alive and are the ones Jesus calls our neighbor and now waits for us to treat them kindly instead of trying to vote down their healthcare, jobs benefits or food assistance.Sunday February 2nd,  Micah 6: (The LORD’s Case Against Israel and therefore against you and I)  3 “My people, what have I done to you?
