family

Wednesday August 14th, Hebrews 11:  13 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.  We still have our separate nations, tribes, religions and languages in this world.  Heavens we even, through the marketing expertise of the media, have red and blue states and the fear mongers among us to encourage the less balanced to lessen the opposition through gun violence and voter restrictions.  God’s vision is one of healthy relationships, people getting to know one another, all brothers and sisters in the family of God.  Scripture points us toward this vision but we run from it and start wars, demand papers and try to steal elections we cannot win through voter rights manipulation.  Politics have taught us that for those in power there is more money to be made in war than in diplomacy and peace.  In God’s view however there is more of a future in seeing others as brothers and sisters in this vast family of God.
