follow the light

Saturday, January 12^th, Matthew 2: ⁹ After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. ¹⁰ When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. ¹¹ On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. ¹² And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.  When they left, they went home by a different route.  We too, when we encounter the messiah, the love of God poured into the world, find our lives changing course.  The best laid plans of mice and men go by the wayside and the path to the fulfillment of this love and grace in the world is by another route.  As we move on into the light of 2013, where will this different route take us?  Or will we simply go back to Jerusalem and Herod and life as usual?  Follow the star, follow the light, follow the Christ, and let the love of God lead you on a different route, one that is filled with love.
