wait
Sunday July 1st,
Lamentations 3: I say to myself, "The
LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him." The LORD is good to those whose hope is in
him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of
the LORD. Waiting is hard, whether you are a child
or an adult. We live in a society with
fast food, express lines, 24 hour competing news services fueled with 140
character tweets from half way around the world and I now have 3G cell phone
service giving way to 4G and 5G on the horizon. Everything is going faster and faster and they
all dream of sitting in a Ferrari while stuck in traffic. In the midst of that, God’s word calls us to
wait. Wait, what are you, crazy? If we wait, tomorrows colors and styles can
become yesterday’s Good-Will bargains.
But then, sometimes we find that it is in the waiting, in the process,
in the journey, that we are blessed. Sometimes
sitting at that stop sign just gives us enough time to see the sky, the trees and
the people sitting in the other cars. Spend
some quiet time and wait today. Talk to
God and wait. Enjoy the beauty of
creations and wait. Love one another and wait.
Time is simply a part of our existence, timelessness is where God
exists. Wait, experience the
timelessness of God and know you are loved.
