Poem: 2nd Sunday after Pentecost Mark 2:23-28

Securely wrapped in our knowledge
We fancy ourselves free
To pursue
---- more knowledge
if it be to our liking
---- each other
if it be to our liking
or maybe
if that not be to our liking
we have
---- after all
the freedom
as stated right here
approved
----- by those who know knowledge
as what is
---- or should be
that rule by which
everyone lives
and where our knowledge fails
there is always a flag
to button up
----- securely
any loose ends
left dangling there
exposing
those tell tail little flaws
that might require us
to move
so wrapped tightly now
in our knowledge
-------- and flag
we feel safe once more
until
someone
---- of obvious
-------- low character
spies yet another
---- threadbare seam
requiring
---- the mantle of religion
to be draped in folds
-------- and divisions
over our tightly wrapped self
and so with nose in the air
we go on our way
until
---- we trip
-------- or are pushed
and find ourselves
hopelessly mired
face to face
with a small child
who holds up her empty bowl
and says………………..more?
