bit of housecleaning
Wednesday March 14th, John 2: 13 Not long before the Jewish festival of Passover, Jesus went to Jerusalem. 14 There he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves in the temple. He also saw moneychangers sitting at their tables. 15 So he took some rope and made a whip. Then he chased everyone out of the temple, together with their sheep and cattle. He turned over the tables of the moneychangers and scattered their coins. To change the focus on temple worship, there needed to be a bit of housecleaning. Change comes hard, we are experiencing that now. But then we have experienced it before and lived through it. Worship is more than going through the motions, more than bringing your offering, setting through a sermon, singing a few songs that you would never listen to if they were on the radio, and talking to a few people until you can get out the door and onto your own life. Worship is more than sacrifice. Jesus replaced simply doing sacrifice with his own body and blood. Instead of buying off God with our sacrifice or good behavior, we are called into a relationship with God and with one another around the table. What thought systems in your life need to be changed to return your church experience to a worship experience? What in your worship needs to be changed in order to change church back into Worship? The answer is never going back to what we used to do, that was for back then, what we are talking about is now. What will be fresh about your worship this week?
