the Lord lifts up

Monday February 9th Isaiah 40: 31 But they who wait upon the Lord will get new strength. They will rise up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weak. The latest statistics available indicate that the percentage of wealth owned by the top 1% in the U.S. has risen from 38% 1993 to 54% in 2005. There are indications that that figure has risen at a faster rate from 2005 to 2008 although I was unable to find any definitive data. One report indicated that the wealthiest 100 families in the U.S. saw their net worth increase by $600 billion in the years 2000 -2008. Since 1950 the top tax rate in the U.S. has gone from a high of 91% to the current 35% (http://www.truthandpolitics.org/top-rates.php) At the same time we have been busy cutting programs that provide college loans and grants, medical coverage and other forms of assistance to those on the bottom. The world tends to beat the bottom down. The Lord lifts them up with wings like eagles. Where does the church stand?
