Enemy? Us?

F Buechner talks about “anger” in wishful thinking by saying something like: Of the seven deadly sins, anger is perhaps the most fun. To let grievances long past roll of your tongue. To look forward to the bitter confrontations yet to come. To savor to the last toothsome morsel both the pain you are given and the pain you are giving back. In many ways it is a feast fit for a king. The chief drawback is what you are wolfing down is yourself, the skeleton at the feast is you. Pogo tells us that we have met the enemy and he is us. Wink warns us to not become that which we hate. Paul says to not take revenge but leave room for God. And still well over half of our nations budget is tied up in war. Some people never listen.
