Another roadblock

But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them." There were expectations for what the Messiah would be like and do. Jesus did not want the newly whole leper to go and tell so the word would not get around that the Messiah was in town. Everyone would come and see only what they expected to see, nothing less, nothing more. It would just be another roadblock keeping the boundaries of expectation in place.
